Mobile ECMO Transport Team

Patients at hospitals in need of advanced respiratory care can be transferred to the Center for Acute Respiratory Failure. The Mobile ECMO Transport Team is deployed when needed for the transfer of critically ill patients who would traditionally be considered too unstable for transfer between hospitals.

Members of the Center for Acute Respiratory Failure's Mobile ECMO Transport Team. This team includes paramedics who are specially trained in advanced airway and ventilator management, use of intra-aortic balloon pumps and transvenous pacemakers, administration of inhaled nitric oxide, and the transport of patients on ECMO. Working with other members of the transport team, these paramedics bring a mobile intensive care unit to the patient to provide the safest possible transport.
