Introduction

CATCH-UP 2016 is the 7th Annual Cardiac Assist Device Therapy Course hosted by NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center. This premier two-day course will further educate on the diagnosis and management of patients with heart failure. Lectures will be given by internationally recognized experts who will address the current clinical practice, use of standard and emerging treatments, and evolution of the field. Didactic sessions, case presentations, audience polling, and interactive discussions will engender learning and improvement in the management of patients with the full spectrum of heart failure.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, internists, intensivists, cardiac nurses, physician assistants, physical therapists, and other medical professionals involved in the evaluation, diagnosis and/or management of patients with heart failure.

Learning Objectives

  • Review recent clinical trials in heart failure and pulmonary hypertension
  • Diagnose and treat valvular disease in heart failure
  • Diagnose and treat acute cardiogenic shock
  • Identify transplant and LVAD candidates in the heart failure population
  • Recognize and treat complications of LVAD therapy
  • Discuss new LVAD technologies
  • Discuss cardiac regeneration in heart failure
