General Guidelines

A variety of transportation choices are included. However, taxis are generally the most convenient. Also, please be aware that only yellow cabs may legally solicit customers with offers of transportation; use official taxi stands whenever possible, especially at airports.

Automobiles

The most direct way to CPMC from most locations is to follow directions leading to the George Washington Bridge, then exit onto the Henry Hudson Parkway, and then onto Riverside Drive (south). From there, continue south and turn left onto 165th Street (the first left south of the bridge). Proceed one block and turn right onto Ft. Washington Avenue, then turn right into the Medical Center parking garage.

From upstate New York and New Jersey

After crossing the George Washington Bridge, follow signs to the Henry Hudson Parkway (also called the West Side Highway), and then to Riverside Drive.

From Riverdale and Westchester via the Saw Mill River Parkway

Exit the Henry Hudson Parkway at the Riverside Drive exit immediately past the George Washington Bridge.

From Westchester, Connecticut, and the East Side of Manhattan via the Major Deegan, Cross-Bronx Expressway, or Harlem River Drive

Approaching the George Washington Bridge, take the Henry Hudson Parkway exit; on the approach to the Hendry Hudson Parkway, stay to the left and follow signs to Riverside Drive.

From the West Side of Manhattan:

Take the Henry Hudson Parkway to Exit 15-Riverside Drive South.

Bus

Take the M2, M3, M4, M5, or M100 bus to CPMC. Fares are currently $2.25, payable in exact change or using a metrocard (available at all subway stations and selected merchants). For other NYC Transit maps, see their site at http://www.mta.nyc.ny.us/nyct/maps/index.html.

Hotels & Accomodations

Manhattan hotels can be expensive; however, Columbia University has negotiated discounts at some hotels for guests of the University. The Columbia University Support Services website contains more information regarding this program.

Especially for those driving, hotels can also be found in New Jersey which is located just across the GW Bridge:

Internet discount reservation specialists are another source of discounted rooms. Some of these include hotels.com, express-res.com, travelweb.com, and www.go2newyorknow.com. (However, we have not used any of these services, so we can't really make recommendations.)
