The New York Thyroid Center is dedicated to providing superior medical care and education to patients with disorders of the thyroid gland. Founded in 1991 by Dr. Paul LoGerfo, a pioneer in minimally-invasive thyroid surgery, and Dr. Robert J. McConnell, an expert in radiation-associated thyroid cancer, the Center evolved from a multidisciplinary thyroid clinic that was established at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center more than 60 years ago.
Today, Dr. McConnell and Dr. James Lee, a leader in the minimally invasive surgical treatment of thyroid disease, serve as the directors of the New York Thyroid Center. Members of this clinic and subsequently of the Center include endocrinologists, surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, and ophthalmologists who are world leaders in the classification, treatment, and identification of thyroid disorders. Its members are actively involved in researching the causes and treatments, as well as developing prevention programs, for thyroid diseases.
Their efforts also extend to the medical community at large so that the standard of care for all thyroid patients may be improved worldwide. Although the Center is based in New York, it provides a referral service to thyroid specialists across the United States and throughout the world. We look forward to putting our resources to work for you.
