June, 2015 — The General Surgery Chief Residents have awarded Michael Kluger, MD, MPH the 2015 Teacher of the Year in recognition of excellence in teaching and mentoring.
A gifted hepatobiliary surgeon, Dr. Kluger has received numerous honors and awards, including:
- 2015 Blakemore Award, with Irene Epelboym, for clinical research in surgical oncology;
- 2014-2015 Forde Award, with Kazuki Sugahara, for innovative approaches to the control of peritoneal cancer;
- 2013 Teacher of the Year while at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell.
Dr. Kluger is currently Principal Investigator of a study on pre- and post-surgical radiation exposure in children undergoing liver transplantation.
