In Bed
"Knee to Chest"
- Lie on back
- Bend hip and knee, raising foot off bed as shown
- Slowly lower leg back to bed
- Repeat 10 times on each leg
"Scissors"
- Lie on your back
- Spread one leg out to the side as far as is comfortable
- Slowly bring leg back to the center
- Repeat 10 times each leg
"Ankle Pumps"
- Bend ankle up toward your body as far as possible
- Now point toe away from your body
- Repeat 10 times (can do both feet at once)
"Bridging"
- Lie on back with legs bent as shown
- Lift buttocks
- Repeat 10 times
"Straight Leg Raise"
- Lie on back with one knee straight and the other knee bent as shown
- Keep the leg completely straight, then raise it about 6–12 inches
- Slowly lower back down to bed
- Repeat 10 times each leg
"Sidelying Leg Lifts"
- Lie on side
- Bend lower leg slightly
- Raise to leg straight up, without letting it come forward
- Lower back to starting position
- Repeat 10 times. Roll onto other side to do opposite leg
