Vascular Surgery Fellowship at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital
The vascular surgery fellowship at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center is a two-year, ACGME-accredited program that accepts two fellows per academic year.
Trainees spend an equal amount of time at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell on the upper east side of Manhattan and NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia in the Washington Heights section of upper Manhattan.
The PGY-6 year is primarily devoted to developing clinical research projects with faculty members, clinical and technical experience in noninvasive vascular testing methods and endovascular procedures.
The PGY-7 year involves in depth experience with all forms of vascular surgical and endovascular procedures, including carotid, aortic, and lower extremity circulation operations.
The program's faculty is one of the largest in the country. We provide a training environment that facilitates the development of the technical and cognitive skills required for physicians to provide comprehensive treatment of non-cardiac vascular disease. A weekly vascular surgery educational conference provides didactic instruction on topics such as vascular pathophysiology and interpretation of vascular diagnostic testing.
Our endovascular program is robust, and extensive exposure to endovascular and catheter-based procedures can be expected. Minimally invasive carotid, aortic, renal, mesenteric and lower extremity artery interventions are performed in new, state-of-the-art, endovascular OR suites. Other features include a busy carotid stenting and endovascular thoracoabdominal aneurysm repair program.
There is a matching program for vascular surgery fellowships. Complete information can be found at NRMP.org. Only applications made via the Electronic Residency Application System "ERAS" will be accepted (www.aamc.org/eras).
