About Elise M Kang, MD:
Dr. Elise Kang is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and an Attending Pediatrician at NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital.
She holds a BA in psychology from Harvard University and an MD from at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Pediatrics and fellowships in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Advanced Transplant Hepatology at NewYork-Presbyterian Columbia University Medical Center. During her fellowship, she pursued formal training in clinical research and completed a Master’s of Science degree in Patient Oriented Research.
Her areas of clinical expertise include management of children with liver diseases such as neonatal cholestasis, biliary atresia, metabolic conditions, autoimmune liver disease, acute liver failure, and liver transplantation. She performs various procedures including percutaneous liver biopsy, endoscopy, vatical band ligation, and colonoscopy.
Dr. Kang's research focuses on pediatric liver tumors and early post-transplant complications. She has authored several papers on infections and vascular thromboses after transplant and use of checkpoint inhibitors in transplant recipients with liver tumors. She is deeply committed to advancing the care of children with liver disease and aims to partner closely with patients and their families to provide comprehensive care.
