Debbie G. Bakes, MD, is a colorectal surgeon and chief of the Westchester Section of the Colorectal Surgery Division within NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Her practice is primarily based out of NewYork-Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital.
Dr. Bakes is a member of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, and the Hellenic Medical Society of New York. She has published and presented research on subjects such as laparoscopic colon resections, pancreatic cancer, and recovery after colorectal surgery. She won Third Place Podium Award at the New York Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons' Residents Night and was granted an award for her research done while serving her residency at Stamford Hospital.
Dr. Bakes earned her medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine and completed her residency at Stamford Hospital and NYP/Columbia, and went on to complete her fellowship at the University of Miami's Jackson Memorial Hospital. She also received additional training in robotics and advanced life support.
