Karin C. Shears is certified by the American Academy Nurse Credentialing Center as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She received her Master’s in Nursing Practice from Columbia University School of Nursing in New York NY. Previously she received her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Virginia.
Karin’s nursing career spans over a decade with most of her prior experience predominantly in the acute care setting. She began her career as a registered nurse on the Cardiology/Telemetry Unit at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. After a few years she accepted a position on the transplant unit at NYP/ Columbia University Irving Medical Center where she developed a love of transplant and all things liver. For the past 5 years she has worked as a Nurse Practitioner in the role of Clinical Coordinator at The Center for Liver Disease and Abdominal Transplantation at Columbia University Medical Center in New York.
