It's our first episode of 2025! We’re back with another installment of “Dr. AI” to assess how well the AI chatbot, ChatGPT, answers medical questions. This week, Arnar Geirsson, MD, asks: Is robotic heart surgery better than open heart surgery for mitral valve repair?
Robotic heart surgery uses the da Vinci surgical system to perform specialized heart procedures. The robot is fully controlled by the surgeon and features small instruments manipulated from a console, which precisely translates the surgeon’s hand movements to the robotic arms. The robot also provides high-resolution 3D imaging, allowing the surgeon to see in great detail and perform delicate, intricate procedures.
On a scale of one to ten, let’s see how well ChatGPT does with this one.
