After Intraoperative Radiation for First Breast Cancer and Full Radiation for Second Breast Cancer, Karin Documents Healing Progress
Karin had breast cancer twice in 2018. She shares images of her treatment journey from diagnosis of the first cancer through recovery of the second. Because she had intraoperative radiation (IORT)—targeted radiation given during surgery, in a single dose directly to the area where the tumor was just removed—for her first bout with cancer, she still had the option for full radiation the second time and was able to avoid mastectomy.
