Columbia Airway Program

Airway stenosis can dramatically impact your quality of life by making it harder to breathe and speak. Because this condition can affect different parts of your airway, diagnosis and treatment may require help from different specialists. Our multidisciplinary Airway Program leverages the skills and experience of surgical experts from across Columbia to provide personalized and effective care.

What is Airway Stenosis?

Upper airway Stenosis is a narrowing of the structures that connect your throat to your lungs, which includes:

  • Pharynx (throat)
  • Larynx (voice box)
  • Trachea (windpipe)
  • Bronchial tubes and bronchioles

This typically leads to a problem with your breathing. Depending on the severity and location of the narrowing, airway stenosis can also cause stridor (high-pitched wheezing), raspy breathing, or difficulty swallowing or speaking.
