About
Shefali Patel is board certified by the American Academy Nursing Credentialing Center as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She received both her Master’s of Science in Nursing and Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Rutgers University in New Jersey.
Shefali’s nursing career spans over 15 years. Her nursing experience has predominately been in caring for transplant patients in the acute, critical care and outpatient setting. She started off her nursing career working on the Comprehensive Transplant Unit and then moved over to the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at New York Presbyterian Hospital – Columbia University Irving Medical Center. After completing her Master’s degree, Shefali continued to pursue her passion in caring for transplant patients by joining the Kidney and Pancreatic Transplant Program at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
For the past 10 years, Shefali has been working as a Nurse Practitioner in the role of a Clinical Coordinator for Kidney and Pancreas transplant recipients. She provides guidance and education to post-transplant recipients. She specializes in managing care for high immunologic risk kidney transplant recipients, including those patients who are crossmatch positive and/or undergone a blood group incompatible kidney transplant.
