Center Highlights

A Commitment to Continence Preservation

Our surgeons use advanced techniques to preserve intestinal length whenever possible, even for patients with complex colorectal disease or multiple prior surgeries. Procedures may include stricturoplasty, limited small bowel resection, and conversion of a J-pouch to a continent ileostomy.

Minimally Invasive Surgery for Quicker Recovery

Our team specializes in minimally invasive surgical techniques for both benign and malignant conditions of the intestine, colon, and rectum. Approaches such as laparoscopic surgery, transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEMS), and robotic surgery allow for smaller incisions, faster recovery, less pain, and improved cosmetic results.

Complex and Reoperative Surgery

Our program provides expert care for complex benign and malignant colorectal conditions, including advanced and reoperative surgery of the abdomen and pelvis. Our surgeons specialize in procedures such as ileoanal pouch creation and revisional pouch surgery, repair of complex intestinal fistulas, treatment of advanced or recurrent colorectal cancer, the Turnbull–Cutait procedure, and salvage of dysfunctional ileoanal pouches, as well as specialized surgical management of pouch-related complications and colorectal cancer with distant spread.

Data-Driven Care and Enhanced Recovery Protocols

Our comprehensive outcomes research program helps maintain excellence in colorectal surgery while advancing new approaches to patient care. We have implemented an Enhanced Recovery Protocol that uses patient education, minimally invasive techniques, and opioid-sparing pain management to support faster recovery and improved outcomes after major abdominal surgery.

One-Stop Clinic With Same-Day Appointments

For convenience, we aim to complete testing on the same day as your first appointment whenever possible. Services may include lab work, imaging, procedures such as flexible sigmoidoscopy, anorectal manometry, endorectal ultrasound, and referrals, allowing for faster evaluation and treatment of colorectal conditions.

Second Opinions, Telephone Consults, and Virtual Visits

If you are considering surgery and would like a second opinion, our colorectal surgeons are here to help. We offer in-person consultations as well as telephone and virtual visits, where our team reviews your medical records and discusses your diagnosis and treatment options with you.

International Services

Our program cares for patients from across the globe seeking treatment for complex colorectal conditions. Through our hospital’s Global Services team, international patients receive personalized assistance with appointments, travel logistics, accommodations, and financial coordination.
