About: 

Dr. Abhishek Mathur is an Assistant Professor of Surgery with the Liver Transplant & Hepatobiliary Surgery program at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Mathur’s clinical focus includes liver transplantation, living donor liver transplant surgery, and cancer. Additionally, he treats patients with both benign and cancerous diseases of the liver, biliary tract, and pancreas. He has made significant contributions in cancer research in these organ systems with recognition for the same in the form of awards at meetings of the American Transplant Congress, International Liver Transplant Society, International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association, Florida Society of General Surgeons, Indiana Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, Florida Chapter of the American College of Surgeons and also from Columbia University and Indiana University Simon Cancer Center.

Dr. Mathur completed his general surgery residency at the University of South Florida. He then went on to Columbia University in New York to complete his abdominal transplant, including living donor liver transplant, and hepatobiliary fellowship (HPB). Following this he pursued his interest in living donor liver transplant & advanced liver and pancreas surgery, at a high volume center, working with Prof. Rela (of Kings College London/Global Hospital). He is a member of and has been nominated to serve on committees in the leading national organizations in transplantation and liver and pancreas surgery – the American Society of Transplant Surgeons and American Hepato Pancreato Biliary Association.
